Transi WhatsApp is an AI-powered digital experience designed to simplify, in an innovative way, how customers use Transi services directly through WhatsApp.
In this first phase, Transi WhatsApp is available to Transi recipients in the Dominican Republic, allowing them to simplify the experience of receiving a cash remittance through a familiar and accessible tool like WhatsApp.
When an eligible remittance is available for Cash Pickup, the recipient can use their phone, before visiting a Transi Network location, to complete the required identity and transaction validation process. Once the validation is successfully completed, the recipient receives a one-time password (OTP) that will be used to collect the money.
This allows a significant part of the process to be completed in advance through WhatsApp, reducing the steps the recipient needs to complete when arriving at a Transi Network location and making the experience of receiving their money faster, simpler, and more convenient.
Validate a remittance and collect the money in cash
When an eligible remittance is available for pickup, the recipient receives a notification through Transi WhatsApp. From their phone, they can complete the required identity and transaction information validation.
Once the validation is successfully completed, the recipient receives an OTP and can visit a participating Transi Network location, present a valid ID, and collect the money in cash in Dominican pesos (DOP) or U.S. dollars (USD), depending on the transaction.
Convert U.S. dollars to Dominican pesos
Recipients who receive an eligible remittance in U.S. dollars (USD) may choose to convert the full amount received into Dominican pesos (DOP) using the exchange rate offered by Transi at the time of the conversion.
The applicable exchange rate is displayed directly in WhatsApp before the recipient confirms the conversion. The conversion is completely optional and is available to recipients who prefer to receive their money in Dominican pesos.
The remittance validation and currency conversion can be completed within the same Transi WhatsApp flow. Once the process is completed, the recipient uses a single OTP to collect the money at a participating Transi Network location.
Initiate a local transfer within the Dominican Republic
A local transfer within the Dominican Republic can be generated through Transi WhatsApp. The assistant guides the customer through entering the recipient’s information and the amount they want to send in Dominican pesos, and displays the applicable fee before the transaction is confirmed.
Once the transfer is generated, the customer receives an OTP and must visit a participating Transi Network location to pay in cash the amount being sent plus the applicable fee.
After the payment is made and validated, the sender receives the transaction number, which must be shared with the recipient. The recipient can use this number, together with a valid ID, to collect the money at a participating Transi Network location after completing the required validation.
